Membership & Collaboration

CMD-Kenya is a unique platform that draws its primary membership from political parties across Kenya’s multiparty spectrum, representing a commitment to collaborative, issue-based democracy. By bringing together political parties, CMD-Kenya fosters a space for dialogue and joint action to address the pressing challenges facing Kenya’s democracy. In addition to political parties, CMD-Kenya actively collaborates with key political actors, including the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT), the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Parliament, County Assemblies, and civil society organizations. These partnerships enable CMD-Kenya to influence policy, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote accountability at every level of governance. Working with these critical stakeholders, CMD-Kenya amplifies its impact by ensuring that reforms, policies, and programs are inclusive, citizen-centred, and uphold democratic values across Kenya’s political landscape.

Fostering Democratic Habits and Empowering Political Organizations for a Better Kenya.

Frankline Mukwanja, Executive Director CMD-Kenya.
In 2025, we will double our efforts to engage political actors, civil society, and citizens in meaningful conversations about governance and ethical leadership. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will continue to guide our citizen-centered policy-making project, ensuring that political discourse is issue-based and aligns with the immediate and long-term needs of our people. Through this, we aim to renew public confidence in Kenya’s political system.

STATE OF MULTI-PARTY DEMOCRACY

In celebration of Human Rights Day, we convened a dynamic cocktail dialogue forum under the theme, “Political Participation as a Fundamental Human Right.” The event brought together a diverse audience of political leaders, civil society representatives, academicians, young people, and human rights advocates to engage in a robust and thought-provoking discussion on the state of multi-party democracy in Kenya.
