The People Dialogue Festival
🌍✨ Redefining Fashion for People and Planet!CMD Kenya is proud to partner with Eco Fashion Week Africa (EFWA) — our esteemed collaborators for the People Dialogue Festival (PDF) — in advancing conversations that connect sustainability, creativity, and democratic participation. Under the thought-provoking theme “Redefining Fashion for People and Planet: Creativity, Circularity and Community Impact in Africa,” EFWA is hosting a vibrant Youth Day, dedicated to empowering young people to engage meaningfully with fashion as a tool for environmental and social transformation. The day features networking opportunities, clothes swaps, panel discussions, and educative sessions with experienced designers and climate activists who are shaping Africa’s sustainable future.👗♻️ Fashion is more than self-expression — it is a mirror of our collective values and an avenue for positive change. Across Africa, young innovators are leading a new wave of creative circularity, proving that style and sustainability can coexist. Through upcycling, ethical production, and community-based fashion initiatives, they are redefining what it means to create for both people and planet. This movement speaks not only to environmental responsibility but also to social inclusion, climate justice, and community empowerment, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of a greener, fairer world.🗳️🌱 At CMD Kenya, we believe that sustainability and democracy are inherently connected — both thrive when people are informed, empowered, and engaged in shaping their future. Just as sustainable fashion demands accountability and transparency, a strong democracy calls for participation, dialogue, and shared responsibility. Through partnerships like ours with EFWA at the People Dialogue Festival, we continue to foster spaces where creativity meets civic engagement — weaving together the threads of environmental consciousness, democratic values, and community impact to build a resilient Africa where every voice and every choice counts for both people and planet. ... Under the Women in Local Politics Project, CMD Kenya facilitated a targeted training for male champions from The KANU Party, one of its member political parties, in Nyeri County. 👥💪 This strategic engagement reaffirmed CMD Kenya’s commitment to promoting gender equality by working within party structures to foster inclusive, accountable, and democratic leadership. The training brought together influential male leaders ready to champion women’s political participation from within their own party spaces.💡 Participants explored core concepts of gender ♀️♂️, unpacked the social and institutional barriers women face in accessing political power 🚫, and reflected on their transformative role as male champions of equality 🔄. The training also focused on gender mainstreaming within political party structures ⚙️ and developing actionable strategies for internal policy reforms 📜 that promote the meaningful inclusion of women in decision-making processes at all levels of leadership.⚖️ As a neutral platform working with all its member political parties, CMD Kenya continues to lead in the institutionalization of inclusive, policy-driven multiparty democracy 🗳️. By equipping male champions within parties like KANU to be proactive allies, we are not only promoting gender justice—but transforming political culture from within. Because when political parties reflect the diversity of society, democracy becomes stronger for all. ✊🏽👩🏾‍💼👨🏻‍💼 ... See MoreSee Less
