Kenya has a fluid political party landscape within a very open political environment for discussions about reforms. Political parties, however, are challenged to re-invent themselves from the current overly personality oriented outfits to become more issue-based political institutions. Out of cognition of these reality, the CMD-Kenya seeks to enhance the capacity of political parties to use different avenues for political party cooperation effectively.
As a multiparty dialogue platform, CMD-Kenya enables political parties and politicians alike, across the political spectrum, to work together to achieve their respective political goals, focus on issues of common interest to parties as institutions, as well as collaborate to develop solutions for issues of national importance.
We work to strengthen understanding by political parties of the importance to balance the use of political competition and cooperation and their mechanisms. We believe this understanding is essential for sustainable democratic development and for providing meaningful choices to citizens.
