The Secretary General of the Liberal Party of Denmark (Venstre) Mr. Claus Richter visited Kenya between 9th- 14th May 2016 to participate
in activities that are part of the policy development project implemented by CMD-Kenya with the support of the Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy through the Danish Liberal Democracy Program (DLDP).
The overall goal of the project is to strengthen political parties to develop policies based on well functioning internal democracy and empowered youth wings actively participating in policy formulation and championing issue-based policies and politics.
The Secretary General accompanied by DLDP Chairman Mr. Bo Manderup-Jensen and DLDP Programme Manager Mr. Bent Nicolajsen interacted with various party officials and senior government officials on critical national issues. Among the officials the team met with include: Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga, former Vice President and WIPER party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, NARC Kenya Chairperson Martha Karua and ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba.
Mr. Richter said Venstre stood for good values and it was cardinal that members of the public were engaged on national issues. At the various meetings, the need for leaders to listen to the views of the people on important national issues, consensus building and political dialogue was emphasized.
