On Tuesday 17th May, 2016 at the Sarova Stanley Hotel from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm CMD - Kenya hosted a multi stakeholder dialogue Forum
to develop consensus on specific issues relating to the ability of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to manage a credible electoral process.The session was attended by members of Parliament, representatives of political parties, religious organizations, trade unions, business leaders, civil society organizations, and the mass media.
The Forum sought to provide an all inclusive constructive dialogue platform on issues relating to preparations for the 2017 general elections. It had the objective of generating frank exchange of views and evidence based perspectives leading to resolutions on the way forward that will guarantee transparent, free, fair and peaceful elections.
It discussed different scenarios for the IEBC and the 2017 general elections. The Forum then made a major resolution on the way forward that it was necessary to have such a multi-stakeholder forum in place to roadmap specifying future actions to be pursued by stakeholders and duty bearers.
